Welcome to INF 380K - Internet Applications

This blog was set up for students at the University of Texas at Austin's School of Information to post web site reviews for INF380K - Internet Applications.

In each blog entry, please find a website (good or bad, interesting or boring) - the website content is not important (although - no porn please) - what we're interested in discussing is the design, layout, and audience for the site. Blog entries should be short, bullet points are okay, and I expect this assignment to take between 20-40 minutes per week.

Address four points in each blog entry for each website you choose to discuss :
1) your best guess at intended audience;
2) usefulness of content;
3) consistency of design;
4) ease of navigation

Site: sourceforge.net
1)) Audience: Open Source Junkies
People who like FREE stuff
"Computer Geeks"
Linux & Windows Programers
Beta Testers
Curious minds...

2)) Usefulness: Very; it is a portal into the vast LEGALLY Free Software Universe. It's especially good for wannabe programmers to build something and get assessments and help from others. For users like myself I use this site to point to handy replacements for expensive software like Photoshop - "Gimp" is a free well designed editor, built for both Linux & Windows.

3)) Consistency: The site is fluid throughout, but the content will vary and it will let you know the status of the content on which you are looking (ie: beta - 1st release, still buggy; or Final Release - Stable; etc.)

4)) Navigation: Simple; it's broken into subject areas that you can browse. You may also do a search by name, subject, OS, etc. It's too easy to navigate.
