Intended Audience:
People of all ages who would like to check the status of their current bank account, open a new one, apply for a job, or find out about larger scale banking for businesses. WAMU has made a name for themselves with their "free checking" available to people from all different walks of life. This allows for a very diversified customer pool.
Usefulness of Content:
Considering I check both of my accounts on this website daily, I find the information for existing customers very helpful. When I signed up for my second joint account, I did it on the web, which was a seamless transition and very helpful as a new business customer as well. Myself aside, considering a majority of the population in the U.S. has a personal banking account, and often times looking for an alternative banking institution, then the information on this website is very useful.
Consistency of Design:
The bright colors and pictures make the page attractive without being too cluttered. I was a bit confused as to why there is so much blank space just right of the center of the page. I think it might be better to take advantage of the blank space by just enlarging some of the already available links and making them more visible, such as the "helpful links" at the bottom right hand side of the screen. This empty space is the trend on all the available tabs at the top.
Ease of Navigation:
The webpage design allows for very easy navigation. It opens the page to the bulk of their customers...personal bankers. The tabs at the top of the screen clearly display possible other reasons for visiting their site--"Business," and "About Wamu." With each tab you click on there will display a horizontal list of items within the tab that helps you quickly scan what is available in this particular folder and click on the correct topic or move on to the next folder. The Login feature is displayed visibly on the home screen and can also be accessed by clicking on the "My Account" tab at the top.
Overall an excellent website, I've never had any problems with it.
