WebMD

http://www.webmd.com/

Intended Audience
  • Anyone worried about their health and/or wellness
  • Anyone wanting to know more about a medical issue
  • Does not seem to be aimed at professionals (i.e. doctors, nurses) but rather laymen who don't know a lot about the subjects they are researching

Usefulness of Content

  • Extremely useful-Covers everything from sickness, to fitness, to recipes, to fitness myths
  • Very useful for the common person concerned about their well-being
  • Not good to use it for self-diagnosis-Can be misleading-Many illnesses have similiar symptoms (ex. dizziness, fever, etc.) and this website will give you all of them-including the extremely serious diagnoses

Consistency of Design

  • Fairly Consistent-Same background color and design elements throughout
  • There are several advertisements-some of which will pop out over the information on the screen-which is annoying

Ease of navigation

  • Main tab information at the top remains the same throughout the site so it is easy to get from one topic to another (i.e. from Women's Health to Children's Health)
  • Tab information down the left side changes depending on sub-topic chosen so it is extremely easy to get lost in the site sometimes and forget what you are doing
  • Sometimes I had to go all the way back to the main topic screen to pick up from where I had wandered off-almost too easy to navigate between screens
